Researchers are strongly encouraged to prearrange their visit by making an appointment with the Librarian.
Arranging your visit in advance enables the librarian to use her skills to research, evaluate, and pull the materials that meet researchers’ needs. This approach further enables researchers to reduce the amount of time they need to spend overall and to focus on reading or consulting the material(s) being utilized.
Materials that have already been pulled for a researcher visit can be placed on a researcher hold shelf for subsequent visits to make them readily available. Researchers that want to come and consult the materials set aside for subsequent visits may come during the hours posted on the hours page for MIAC/LOA staff. If researcher that have materials on hold are going to need further research support and/or numerous additional items pulled from the collections, calling in advance and arranging an appointment is recommended.
